Studio 8 is a dynamic, not-for-profit platform dedicated to advancing contemporary dance and performing arts. Since its establishment in 2014, Studio 8 has become a cornerstone of artistic innovation and cultural exchange in Jordan and beyond. Our work spans a wide range of activities, including producing and touring contemporary performances, fostering audience engagement, facilitating artistic exchange and international collaborations, and hosting artistic residencies.
Studio 8 was founded by three young artists. Hadi Nahleh, Anas Nahleh & Ren.
Through these diverse initiatives, Studio 8 continues to push the boundaries of contemporary dance, create meaningful cultural exchanges, and inspire both artists and audiences to explore new creative horizons.
In addition to live performances, Studio 8 has produced dance videos, supported art incubations, and facilitated dance-inspired exhibitions, discussions, community art walks, and street art fairs. We are also proud to organize Remal, an international multidisciplinary art residency that brings together artists from diverse backgrounds to Amman, Jordan. Remal fosters collaboration between local, regional, and international artists, building a robust global network.
As the driving force behind the IDEA International Dance Festival, Studio 8 curates and organizes this global event, which brings together dancers, choreographers, and audiences from around the world. Our commitment to the arts is evident in our impressive track record: collaborating with over 600 artists from 43 nationalities, creating 10 original dance productions, delivering more than 60 performances, and organizing over 160 classes and workshops.
IDEA, the International Dance Encounter Amman, is a biannual multidisciplinary dance festival that has quickly become a cornerstone of contemporary dance in Jordan. Based in Amman, IDEA is a platform where international and local dance performances converge, offering a rich program that includes performances, public interventions, master classes, workshops, artist symposiums, and the exchange of ideas.
IDEA extends beyond a mere festival; it is an educational platform committed to building lasting connections between artists and innovators in Jordan and the global arts community. Through year-round learning programs, incubator initiatives, seed funding, direct mentorship, and personalized guidance, IDEA fosters an environment where dancers, choreographers, musicians, and designers can collaborate to produce unique, challenging, and diverse works. The festival’s mission is to support and launch the careers of local dancers and choreographers, enhancing Jordan’s presence on the global dance scene.
